In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! – who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied –
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
‘Til He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!

My wife works with brain injured patients and a large part of her job is to train folks to push their brains to find new cognitive pathways for things they used to be able to do( Yeah - Speech Pathologists don't just teach kids how to say their S's). After a brain unjury, sometimes the brains cells that they used to use die so they have to find healthy cells and detour around the dead cells. When these guys are developing these new pathways, sometimes they "perseverate" which means they keep repeating the same word or phrase over and over. Apparently it is part of the brain growth process. It is wildly interesting stuff. Well, I occasionally perseverate and so do you. The street language for this is when things "get stuck in your head". The song above has been "stuck in my head" for the last few days and I'm not sure I want it to get unstuck...

This has officially been my favorite song for about two years now. I have heard it about every way it could be sung or played and I never tire of it. I hope it doesn't ever get "unstuck" from your head.

p.s. The guy who wrote this, Stuart Townend, wrote another song recently called "Power of the Cross" that is also incredible. We sing it at 4th Avenue a lot and it's on our new Hallal CD.
